Movie Night

  • A Photographers Place 5100 Lacy Ave. Suite 100 Raleigh United States (map)

We will be screening: Jay Myself

Photographer Stephen Wilkes creates an intimate portrait of his mentor, Jay Maisel, as he leaves the 30,000 square foot building in the Bowery that he's inhabited and filled with his eccentric collection of beautiful random objects for the last 40 years

The film chronicles the days during which photographer Jay Maisel decides to sell his long-time New York home, the historic six-story former Germania Bank Building in the Bowery, for $55 million dollars. The documentary tells the story of how Maisel obtained this property in 1967. The film starts with Maisel having only five months left until his building is to be sold. During these months he is sorting through 72 rooms, showcasing a collection of VHS tapes, special-sized screws, and the photographs for which he was famous

This event is free and open to the public! Doors open at 6:30pm. Seating is limited so don't be late. We'll see you there!
