Led by photographer Titus Brooks Heagins, renowned for his thoughtful and emotionally rich portraits, the session centers on trust, empathy, and presence in portrait-making. Participants will gain practical tools for directing gently, working with light, and capturing portraits that feel authentic and alive.

Your instructor

Titus Brooks Heagins is currently the Executive Director and Educator at The Light Factory in Charlotte, NC. He holds a BA degree in political science from Duke University and an MFA degree from the School of Art and Design at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. His work can be found in the collections of the Smithsonian Anacostia Community Museum, Washington, DC; the North Carolina Museum of Art, Raleigh, NC; The Casa de Africa, Havana, Cuba among many others.

In addition to his mentoring younger photographers, Titus has travelled extensively creating portraits that are known for capturing the essence of his subjects.
