Workshop Description
A well-matted and thoughtfully framed photograph can transform how an image is seen and experienced. In this practical, hands-on workshop, participants will learn the fundamentals of matting and framing photographs, with a focus on both aesthetics and preservation.
We’ll explore how mat color, width, and proportion influence the viewer’s eye, as well as how to select appropriate frames and materials for different types of photographic work. Participants will gain an understanding of archival considerations, safe mounting techniques, and common framing mistakes to avoid.
Whether you’re preparing work for exhibition, portfolio presentation, or personal display, this workshop will give you the skills and confidence to present your photographs professionally and intentionally.
Registration fee includes matting materials for practice cutting and one mat up to 16x20 for your final presentation. To get the most from the experience, students are encouraged to bring an appropriate wooden or sectional metal frame to create a completely finished print for presentation.
