This workshop is an invitation to slow down and truly see your subject. Led by photographer Titus Brooks Heagins, renowned for his thoughtful and emotionally rich portraits, the session centers on trust, empathy, and presence in portrait-making. Participants will gain practical tools for directing gently, working with light, and capturing portraits that feel authentic and alive.
Students will explore the subtle space between photographer and subject, focusing on connection, presence, and emotional honesty. Participants will learn how to create portraits that feel deeply human - images that reveal quiet strength, vulnerability, and inner life beyond the surface.
Who It’s For:
Beginner to intermediate photographers that are looking to move beyond technique and into relationship—with light, with the subject, and with themselves.
Through guided demonstrations, observation, and thoughtful dialogue, participants will explore how to create portraits that feel honest and emotionally resonant. The focus is not on performance, but on attention: learning to hold space, to listen visually, and to photograph what cannot be staged. This workshop is designed for photographers seeking depth, nuance, and a quieter way of seeing.
